Carissa studied at Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley. Her specialty includes menstrual issues, menopausal syndrome, and pregnancy support. She studied Dr. Hua Ling Xu, a specialist in TCM obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Xu taught Carissa the importance of working as a team with patients and their doctors and to be very thorough and precise in her diagnosis to ensure the best treatment outcome. She utilizes questioning, physical exam, western medical diagnosis and lab work to form a diagnosis and optimal treatment.
She got into this field because she appreciates medicine and the sacred space that particularly Acupuncture has to offer. As she went through school she witnessed first hand the amazing results of Acupuncture and enjoyed the bonds she formed with her patients along the way.
Carissa is licensed to practice acupuncture by the California Acupuncture Board. (Lic #16675)
